Planning & Zoning Commission/ <br />Local Planning Agency Minutes <br />August 10, 2022 <br />Page S <br />Markovitz thought it would be important to define a large retail establishment. He said Bed Bath & Beyond and Staples were <br />in this shopping center. He felt that BJ's was a monopoly and it would hurt small businesses. Mr. Markovitz said he was in <br />favor of growth and development but felt the City didn't need a super large retail establishment. <br />A general discussion ensued regarding the type of vehicular services allowed with large retail establishments. It <br />was decided that the services would be limited to tire and battery services only. <br />Mr. Burnett responded to a comment made earlier in the meeting by Mr. Markovitz regarding defining large retail <br />establishments. Mr. Burnett read the Code definition for large retail establishment. <br />Mr. Hale asked for a motion to address LPA 22-07. Ms. Divita made a motion that the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission provide a favorable recommendation to the City Commission for LPA 22-07 to provide amendments to Section <br />2-7.27 for Large Retail Establishments, Attachment A and editing Section 2-7.27.1 regarding tire and battery services. Mr. <br />Burnett seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by voice vote. <br />Tenth Item of Business: Public Comments. <br />There were no public comments. <br />Eleventh Item of Business: Other Business. <br />Ms. Hyson explained that the American Planning Association state conference is providing training for Planning <br />Officials in September.
