CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of September 12, 2022 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 24 of 25 <br />Commissioner Andrew Meadows — Seat No. 2: <br />Thanked Commissioner Busch for his comments and also congratulated him on running <br />unopposed for his Commission seat. <br />Agreed with Commissioner Busch's comments that sometimes there are tough decisions to be <br />made, and although he did not necessarily move to Casselberry to see high rises, it was a tough <br />thing to try to balance the needs and wants of the citizens and business owners with what is the <br />reality of what is happening. He added that he did empathize with those who had expressed <br />concerns and was hopeful the right decisions would be made while being sensitive to all <br />situations. <br />Vice Mayor/Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1: <br />Echoed the earlier comments about Finance Director Carol Conroy and incoming Finance <br />Director Gladymir Ortega. <br />Reported that he had served as Chair and facilitated the Government Day class for Leadership <br />Seminole on Friday, September 91" and there had been 55 students in the class. He noted that <br />Mayor Henson had served on the Mayors' Panel and had done a fine job representing the City. <br />He added that the mock trial had been added back to the Leadership curriculum after a couple <br />of years of being eliminated due to Covid. The next class will be Arts and Culture Day in a <br />couple of months. <br />Mayor/Commissioner David Henson - Seat No. 5: <br />• Attended the Municipal Advisory Council meeting for MetroPlan Orlando on Thursday, <br />September 8`I' where the discussion focused on mass transit and funding issues with SunRail. <br />• Participated on the Mayor's Panel for Leadership Seminole Government Day on September <br />901. <br />• Attended the Food Truck Friday event on September 9t''. <br />• Attended the opening of Battle of the Bands 5K on Saturday, September 10"' but was unable to <br />stay; however, the event was well attended with 1400 runners participating. <br />• Reported that he had recently attended the Florida League of Cities Conference and had <br />enjoyed networking with his counterparts from across the State of Florida. He advised he had <br />brought up the subject of community gardens with some other attendees and had gotten <br />feedback that they had not been greatly successful in many cities, due to cost, location, and <br />staffing issues. <br />18. ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business, Mayor Henson adjourned the meeting at 7:45 p.m. <br />
