4. Inflow monitoring: A supplemental monitoring program will be conducted by ERD to
evaluate the hydrologic and chemical characteristics of significant inflows into and between
the four lakes. Potential locations for the inflow monitoring program are indicated on
Figure 1. During each monitoring event, field measurements of discharge will be conducted
at 6 monitoring sites using the velocity/cross-sectional area method as outlined by USGS.
Surface water samples will be collected at two of the six monitoring sites and analyzed in
the ERD research laboratory for the following parameters ($143/sample):
a. pH ($4.50) g. Total Nitrogen ($25)
b. Specific Conductivity ($5) h. Orthophosphorus (SRP) ($10)
C. Alkalinity ($10) i. Particulate Phosphorus ($15)
d. Ammonia ($10) j. Total Phosphorus ($15)
e. NO,, (nitrite + nitrate) ($12) k. Total Suspended Solids (TSS) ($10)
f. Particulate Nitrogen ($20) 1. Turbidity ($6.50)
The proposed supplemental monitoring program will assist in establishing hydrologic and
nutrient loadings from significant inflows into and between the four lakes. For budget
purposes, 16 inflow water samples are proposed.
Figure 1.
