The current scope for this effort includes completion of Task 1 through Task 3. Services for the
selected tasks are described in detail in the following pages.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
TASK 1.0 — UDF PRE -DESIGN
1.1 Data Collection — REI will collect and review geographic information system (GIS) data.
including the City's water system GIS shapefiles and valve, hydrant and blow -off
shapefiles to design the UDF Program using the City's hydraulic model (Model) and
UDF software.
Data Required: Latest water system GIS shapefile and latest valve, hydrant shapefile and
blow -off shapefile (if available).
1.2 Hydraulic Model Update — REI will compare the hydraulic model to the current water
system shapefile and import new piping structure into the City's existing Model to ensure
new pipes are included in UDF program. REI will use the City's GIS files as the source
for the new structure import. REI will convert the City's Model currently in
WaterGEMS format to a UDF Model. The UDF Model will be used to design the City's
UDF program. REI will perform quality control checks to ensure that the integrity of the
Model is not compromised during the Model conversion to a UDF Model.
Data Required: Latest WaterGEMS Model
Deliverables:
♦ Updated WaterGEMS Model
♦ UDF Model
1.3 GIS Assets to Model Pipe Link Coordination — REI will link the distribution valves and
hydrants to the nearest pipe in the UDF Model. This link allows the valves and hydrants
to be opened and closed within the UDF Model to control pipe scouring velocity. REI
will review the valve and hydrant to pipe links for assets used in the UDF program desigr.
to ensure the UDF Model is representative of the valve and hydrant locations in the
distribution system based on City maps. REI will also incorporate the blow -off shapefile
into the Model to enable UDF design of key 4 -inch mains that do not have hydrants.
Data Required: City maps, water service area boundaries and City staff availability
Deliverables:
♦ UDF Model with linked assets
TASK 2.0 — UDF PROGRAM DESIGN
2.1 UDF Design Criteria — REI will develop a set of UDF design criteria with input frorr.
City staff to ensure the program design is effective for the distribution system. The
design criteria will include, but is not limited to, minimum flush velocity, minimum Oust
PLANNING • DESIGN • CONSTRUCTION
