CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of August 27, 2012 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 19 of 20 <br />Commissioner Jon Miller — Seat No. 2: <br />• Congratulated Mayor Glancy, Commissioner Aramendia and Vice Mayor Hufford on their re-election <br />to office. <br />• Stated that he believes the creation of the Economic Advisory Board has very good potential for the <br />City and he was excited about the possibilities. Recommended reaching out to the Casselberry <br />Chamber of Commerce for possible board members. <br />• Extended congratulations to new City Manager Randy Newlon. <br />Vice Mayor Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />• Extended congratulations to Mr. Newlon, Mayor Glancy and Commissioner Aramendia. <br />• Advised that County Commissioner John Horan will be speaking at the September 12`" Chamber of <br />Commerce meeting, and invited anyone interested to attend. <br />Commissioner Solomon added her congratulations on the election results, stating she was proud to serve with <br />all of the other Commissioners. <br />Mayor Charlene Glancy — Seat No. 5: <br />• Thanked everyone for their kind words, and expressed her appreciation for everyone on the <br />Commission. She stated she was excited about the path the City is taking and added that she felt that <br />the Commissioners, although different, were like-minded in their desires for the future of the City and <br />she was honored to continue working with each of them in the years to come. <br />• Expressed congratulations to Mr. Newlon on his appointment as City Manager. <br />• Announced that the swearing-in for the Commissioners would be September 10"' at 6:00 p.m., with the <br />Regular Commission Meeting following at 7:00 p.m. <br />• Advised that she had received a call from Christina O'Connell about the tour of the City, and she had <br />very nice comments about Commissioner Solomon. Stated she is excited that the City will be included <br />in a regional magazine. <br />• Reported that she attended the Florida League of Cities Conference on Thursday and Friday of last <br />week. She gave a brief overview of some of the topics that were covered, including Amendment 4; <br />regulatory developments regarding pensions; and ways to build a "lovable" city. She distributed a <br />handout to the Commissioners regarding Amendment 4. She added that Mayor Pat Bates had <br />completed her year as President, and Mayor Glancy felt she had done a good job at the helm, and had <br />brought a lot of recognition to Seminole County. <br />• Reported that Lake Kathryn Estates would be having a Health Fair on October 12'11 She advised that <br />the Police and Fire Departments had been invited to attend, and that attendance was estimated to be <br />around 1000 people. She added that some of the candidates who are on the November 6111 ballot had <br />also been invited to speak to give the voters an opportunity to get to know their candidates. <br />• Advised that the Casselberry Elementary PTSA's annual Picnic in the Park event would be held the <br />evening of October 25`x' <br />• Stated that the Rock `n Run would be September 15`' <br />
