CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of August 27, 2012 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 18 of 20 <br />Mr. Newlon thanked the Commissioners for their decision to appoint him as the City's permanent City <br />Manager. He stated that the past six months had been a real privilege and a real experience, and he was very, <br />very pleased with all the successes that had occurred with support from staff. He added that he was very <br />honored with the Commission's decision and grateful for all the kind words. He stated he would continue to <br />do his very best for the City. <br />The Commission and the audience gave Mr. Newlon a round of applause. <br />15. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1: <br />• Reported that the Sports and Recreation Expo had been held at the Recreation Center on Saturday and <br />it was well attended. <br />• Reminded everyone that the Latin Jazz Festival will be September 8th, featuring Nestor Torres. He <br />stated that Nestor Torres is very well known, and he anticipated that attendance could reach 7-8 <br />thousand. <br />• Thanked Mr. Newlon for ensuring that preparations were in place in the event the tropical storm <br />became an issue for the City. <br />• Congratulated Mr. Newlon again on his appointment, stating that he had known his father and was <br />sure he would be very proud. <br />Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: <br />Extended congratulations to Mr. Newlon, stating that he was doing a great job, and encouraging him <br />to keep it up. <br />Reported that she had met with Christine O'Connell, owner of My City Magazine last week and took <br />heron a3 -hour tour of the City. She added that she had contacted Ms. O'Connell after seeing an issue <br />of the magazine that included several of the surrounding cities, but did not include Casselberry. She <br />stated Ms. O'Connell had sent a thank -you note stating that she had enjoyed the tour and expressing <br />how beautiful a City it was. <br />
