For more information contact Sara Brady 407-408-4000 CITY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE TWO MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS FOR CASSELBERRY CASSELBERRY, FL – Monday, January 24, 2022 - As part of the City’s continued investment in infrastructure, City Commissioners this month approved two impactful multi-million-dollar construction projects specific to road, sidewalk, sanitary sewer, and water main improvements. Specifically, Commissioners approved $3.6 million for construction of the Lake Kathryn Circle Complete Street Improvements project, an innovative design that improves pedestrian connectivity and safety along the north-south portion of Lake Kathryn Circle from Seminola Boulevard to the Laura Street/Wisteria Lane intersection. The project will essentially narrow the existing road to 20 feet, creating space on the east side of the street for an eight-foot-wide sidewalk and wide landscape areas, holding true to the City’s focus on increased walkability throughout Casselberry. This project integrates water and sewer utility improvements that have the potential to convert septic tanks to sanitary sewer, helping reduce pollutant loads to Lake Kathryn. The Commission also approved $1.9 million for improvements to the City’s potable water distribution system along U.S. Highway 17-92 from State Road 436 to Ridge Road. The scope of this project includes installation of about 4,400 feet of 12-inch water main to connect the water distribution system from Lake of the Woods Boulevard to East Altamonte Drive. This project is designed to improve water quality, address isolation issues caused by dead-end service points and reduce the risk of service loss for customers being served by a single main source. The City provides treated potable water to residents through about 200 miles of pipe that make up its distribution system. As part of the Lake Kathryn Circle project, which will be partially funded by grant monies from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), improvements will include construction of about 3,000 linear feet of gravity sewer, installation of manholes and sanitary service laterals leading to the anticipated decommissioning of more than 30 septic tanks along with roadway restoration. This anticipated completion date is March 2023.
