City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — March 9, 2021 <br />Board Member Nash made a motion to elect Katy Farmer to the position of Vice Chair. <br />Chairwoman Icenhower seconded the motion. Motion was passed unanimously 5-0. <br />5. Approval of Minutes — December 8, 2020 <br />Vice Chairwoman Farmer made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 8, 2020 <br />Regular Meeting as written. Motion was seconded by Chairwoman Icenhower. Motion carried <br />unanimously 5-0. <br />Recording Secretary Jessica Peeples briefly assisted Board Member Nash with her computer <br />monitor. <br />6. Staff Report <br />a) Parks Updates <br />Ms. Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, informed the board of the installation of two memorial <br />benches in Secret Lake Park. She also informed the board that three additional memorial benches <br />have shipped from the manufacturer and will be installed this year. Ms. Moore commented on <br />the success of the Memorial Bench Program and its benefits to the City and residents. <br />She then spoke about the renovations and updates to the "Sculpture House" including the <br />mosaic, painted door, and recent pouring of concrete for the ADA accessible sidewalk. She added <br />that staff is working with Lighthouse of Central Florida for potential programming in the future. <br />Other future programming discussed was the Florida Sculptors Guild exhibit, Sight Unseen, that <br />will take place in October with the IlluminArt event. <br />b) Recreation Updates <br />Ms. Moore began by introducing the Walk Florida partnership with Florida Recreation and Parks <br />Association (FRPA). She explained the goal of "walking" the length of Florida and how members <br />of the community would track their steps for four weeks. The City partnered with Friends of the <br />Park to distribute 50 pedometers to the community. <br />Next, Ms. Moore provided an update on outdoor recreation classes. Exercise offerings included <br />chair exercise, yoga, and Zumba. Other offerings were Music with Mar and Amaya Papaya <br />Playgroups, both geared towards young children and caretakers. <br />
