City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — November 12, 2019 <br />regular Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting. She added that registration was available <br />through the online portal, CivicRec, and that residents without internet can still register in- <br />person at the Recreation Center. <br />6. Staff Report <br />a. Parks Update <br />Ms. Moore presented the most recent park updates and improvements. Highlights included <br />new nets on the basketball courts and the swing set was re -painted green to match the new <br />playground equipment at Secret Lake Park, and a new metal roof was put on the Wirz Park <br />Building. Other improvements included weeding and landscaping maintenance at Lake Concord <br />Park. <br />b. Events Update <br />First, Ms. Moore discussed the largest event, Craft Beer & Blues, a 2 -day blues festival. The City <br />partnered with Orange Blossom Blues Society, an organization that seeks to provide education, <br />awareness and support for all blues music past, present and future. Ms. Moore stated the event <br />was November 16th and 17th from 4-9 p.m. with VIP reception both days. Additional details <br />followed. <br />Next, Ms. Moore reviewed the holiday events including Santa Run, Tree Lighting Ceremony, and <br />Art & Music in the Park and The Food Truck Bazaar combined with the Holiday Boutique. <br />Ms. Moore then recapped non -city events from earlier in the month including the Casselberry <br />Chamber's Food and Wine Festival, and Hook Kids on Fishing. She also spoke of upcoming non - <br />city events such as the Association of American Retired Persons (AARP) Driving Course and the <br />New Hope for Kids Bicycle Ride. <br />Lastly, Ms. Moore went over the various art exhibits including "EI Arte Eleva" in City Hall, and in <br />the Art House the Rotary Club of Casselberry 2020 Community Arts Calendar - "Our Central <br />Florida Community". She added that the Seminole County National Arts Exhibit is on display at <br />the Seminole County Administration Building and there was large participation across <br />numerous local agencies. Ms. Moore also discussed possible future exhibits the City could host. <br />Before concluding, Ms. Moore recognized Board Member Dana Callan for his donation of two <br />sculptures and for his work fabricating two unique stands for the bronze plaques for the <br />sculptures. <br />
