Resolution 21-3254 — School Resource Officer Agreement with the School Board <br />of Seminole County <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SEMINOLE <br />COUNTY FOR SERVICES OF A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER FOR THE 2021-2022 <br />SCHOOL YEAR; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE." <br />Introduction: Resolution 21-3254 provides for an agreement with the School Board of Seminole County <br />to share the costs and provide $49,065 toward salary and benefits for a School Resource Officer (SRO) at <br />South Seminole Academy for the 2021-2022 school year. <br />Budget Impact: The City has budgeted for the School Resource Officer Salary for Fiscal Year 2021 in <br />General Fund Regular Salaries and Wages account #001-0610-521.12-01. Fiscal Year 2022 will be <br />appropriated during the Fiscal Year 2022 Adopted Budget process. <br />The revenue from Seminole County for the School Resource Officer's salary and benefits in the amount of <br />$49,0065 will be deposited as it is received into the General Fund SRO revenue account #001-0000-337.21- <br />01. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Police Chief recommended approval of Resolution 21-3254, <br />School Resource Officer Agreement with the School Board of Seminole County. <br />E. Resolution 21-3255 — Participation with the State of Florida and Other Local <br />Governmental Units in the Florida Memorandum of Understanding to Settle the <br />Opioid Litigation <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, <br />FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY (HEREIN REFERRED TO AS THIS <br />"GOVERNMENTAL UNIT") TO JOIN WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND OTHER LOCAL <br />GOVERNMENTAL UNITS AS A PARTICIPANT IN THE FLORIDA MEMORANDUM OF <br />UNDERSTANDING AND FORMAL AGREEMENTS IMPLEMENTING A UNIFIED PLAN; <br />PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE." <br />Introduction: Resolution 21-3255 authorizes participation in a Memorandum of Understanding with the <br />State of Florida and local governmental units for a unified plan for use of proceeds from the opioid litigation <br />settlement. <br />Budget Impact: At this time there is no expected budget impact as exact dollars are unknown. It is <br />estimated that the City of Casselberry could receive between $8,000 and $15,000 per year for several years. <br />
