CASSGLBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of June 14, 2021 — Regular Meeting
Page 14 of 15
16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT
No report.
17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS
Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1:
• Recently completed work with Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County and Greater Apopka
on a women's build property in Sanford.
• Requested that Chief Krantz share information on the Police Department's response to activity
on the corner of U.S. Highway 17-92 and State Road 436 about which concerns had been
expressed during Citizens' Comments.
Chief Krantz explained that Police Department staff was very aware of the situation at that intersection and
had been for the past several months. He advised that staff had worked closely with organizers of the
protests on both sides, letting them know how they should act and what actions they should stay away from,
including stepping into the roadway and approaching passing vehicles, and also what action would be taken
by Police Department staff if they should not act accordingly. He added that staff had also worked with the
multiple property owners, who first had not requested that the Department enforce their trespass rights, but
later had decided to do so. He noted that he was aware of some incidents that had occurred at the
intersection, and charges were filed appropriately for those. He stated the main focus of the Department
had been to ensure that the protests remain peaceful to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved
and they would continue to do so as long as people were out there. He commended his staff for the
tremendous job they were doing at the site working to ensure that everyone was kept safe during the events.
He urged anyone who felt they had been the victim of a crime in any way to make a report with the Police
Department so the incident could be properly investigated, and charges filed, if appropriate.
Commissioner Chad Albritton — Seat No. 4:
Has been speaking with residents along North Winter Park Drive in recent weeks and has gotten
positive feedback about the progress the City is making. He added that the residents are happy
about the North Winter Park Drive Complete Streets Project study and are hoping it will
address the walkability issue in the area.
Commented that he had heard from Recreation Division staff that Casselberry Summer Camp
was off to a great start at the Recreation Center at Secret Lake Park. He thanked staff for
coming up with an alternate venue for the camp when the public school location was
unavailable, and also thanked those seniors who are patiently foregoing use of the Recreation
Center for the summer so the children have a safe summer option.
Vice Mayor Mark Busch - Seat No. 3:
• Stated again that he felt the acquisition of the Brightwater Estate was going to be the perfect
