CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of July 14, 2014 — Regular Meeting
Page 8 of 15
PLANT PROJECT APPROVED FOR PURCHASE ORIGINALLY WITH RESOLUTION 14-2562;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE."
Introduction: Resolution 14-2633 approves the execution of the agreement with Calgon Carbon Corporation
which is related to Invitation for Bid #Y-140001 previously approved by the City Commission on January 13,
2014, to construct five (5) granulated activated carbon (GAC) vessels for the South Water Treatment Plant
Project in the amount of $817,210, and authorizes the Mayor to execute said document on behalf of the City.
Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City budget.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Public Works Director recommended approval of Resolution
14-2633.
Audience Participation: No one came forward to address any item on the Consent Agenda:
MOTION: Vice Mayor Hufford moved to approve the Consent Agenda, as amended.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Solomon. Motion carried unanimously
by voice vote 3-0.
8. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Future Agenda Items
Vice Mayor stated she had received some concerns from citizens in the Lake Kathryn community regarding the
turnaround time for issuance of permits. She noted that it appeared that any problems were a result of the
process the City of Altamonte Springs was following in doing the City of Casselberry's inspections, but she felt
it was a matter that should be discussed by the Commission, possibly during a goal -setting workshop.
Commissioner Solomon requested that the issue of installation of Seminole State College banners along U.S.
Highway 17-92 in Casselberry be brought back up for discussion. Mr. Newlon advised the matter had
basically been tabled and not fully resolved, but it would be looked at further. He suggested the possibility of a
workshop in order to present the issue and receive guidance from the Commission.
B. Municipal Advisory Committee (Metroplan) Report
Advised that nothing major affecting the City of Casselberry was discussed at the July 2, 2014 meeting and
that the City's projects were in good shape as far as placement on Metroplan's prioritized list. She also gave a
brief update on the I-4 construction project which is anticipated to begin construction in January or February of
2015.
