Act or the Act means the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, also known as the Clean Water Act, <br />as amended, 33 USC § 1251 et seq., or as amended in the future. The Act provides statutory <br />authority for both NPDES and Pretreatment Programs. <br />Additive means a substance introduced into the wastestream to aid treatment or to affect a specific <br />result. Additives shall include, but are not limited to, emulsifiers, enzymes, bacteria, or other <br />agents and mixtures so designed to absorb, purge, consume, disperse, dissolve, treat, or otherwise <br />eliminate oils, fats, or grease. <br />Administrative Action means an enforcement action authorized and initiated by the Control <br />Authority's legal authority, which is taken without the involvement of a court. <br />Administrative Fine means a punitive monetary charge unrelated to actual treatment costs, which <br />is assessed by the Control Authority rather than a court. <br />Administrative Order means a document, which orders the User (violator) to perform a specific <br />act or refrain from an act. The order may require Users to attend a show cause meeting, cease and <br />desist discharging, or undertake activities pursuant to a compliance schedule. <br />Aliquot means a liquid portion of a sample. <br />Amal am Separator is a device that employs filtration, settlement, centrifugation, or ion exchange <br />to remove amalgam and its metal constituents from a dental office vacuum system before it <br />discharges to the sewer. <br />Amalgam Waste means and includes non -contact amalgam (amalgam scrap that has not been in <br />contact with the patient); contact amalgam (including, but not limited to, extracted teeth containing <br />amalgam); amalgam sludge captured by chairside traps, vacuum pump filters, screens, and other <br />amalgam trapping devices; used amalgam capsules; and leaking or unusable amalgam capsules. <br />ANSI/ADA Standard No. 108 is the American National Standards Institute and American Dentistry <br />association standard for amalgam separators. <br />Applicant means an owner, or agent of the owner, of any land requesting Municipal Sewer Service. <br />Approval Authority means Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). <br />Approved means an acceptance by the Director of Public Works as meeting or complying with <br />applicable requirements or specifications as set forth cited in this Article; or suitable for the <br />proposed use or application. <br />Authorized City Personnel means individuals or designees that have been authorized or approved <br />by the City to perfonn specific tasks or to execute certain job descriptions or scope of services. <br />
