CASSGLBCRRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of July 27, 2020 — Regular Meeting
Page 14 of 15
14. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
A. Procurement Approvals Information Report for the Period June 1 2020 through
June 30, 2020
Mr. Newlon briefly addressed the concerns brought up by Ms. LaCrosse during the Citizens' Comments
portion of the agenda. He explained that he was aware of the situation with the particular customer that
had been mentioned and the City had tested and found that the meter was working properly, but had
ultimately worked with the customer on an adjustment to his bill to resolve the issue. He noted an additional
spike had subsequently occurred and staff was currently working with the customer on that situation, as
well.
Mr. Newlon advised that the City's current metering system was limited as far as monitoring of anomalies
such as with this customer, but an update of the City's metering technology was currently underway and
would be taking place over the next year as noted in the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2021. He added
that the new technology will allow the City to intervene much more quickly when an issue occurs, but until
that time, staff is always available and ready to work with the City's utility customers to try and resolve
any outstanding issues.
15. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
• Gave a brief update on the most recent legislative session.
16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT
Advised that the City Manager's Report also included the Procurement Information Report for
the period of June 1St through June 30"', 2020, and the report was included in the City
Commissioners' agenda packets for review.
Announced that the City Election was scheduled to be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 and
all precincts would be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. She advised there were two races on
the ballot, one for Seat 4 and the other for Seat 5 which is the Mayor's Seat. Early voting
begins Saturday, August 8' through Saturday, August 15ti' from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each
day. There is an early voting site within the City limits at the Seminole County Library branch
location on Oxford Road. Mail ballots which were mailed out three weeks ago are already
being received by the Supervisor of Elections Office. Ms. Gardner stated that anyone having
any election -related questions could reach out to her at any time.
