CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of June 22, 2020 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 5 of 12 <br />G. Reorganization of Administration and the Community Development Department <br />Introduction: Reorganization of Administration and the Community Development Department provides <br />for the deletion of a Staff Assistant I/II position in Administration and the addition of a Building Specialist <br />position in the Community Development Department within Fiscal Year 2020. <br />Discussion: A pay grade of 121 is requested for the Building Specialist position, which has a midpoint of <br />$38,232. It replaces a Staff Assistant 1/II with a midpoint of $34,718. As proposed, the position will be <br />entirely funded from the Building Safety Fund and will not impact the General Fund. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City Budget. Staff vacancies have left sufficient funds to cover <br />the remainder of the fiscal year and future years will be budgeted accordingly in the Building Safety Fund. <br />Recommendation: The City Manager and the Community Development Director recommended approval <br />of the reorganization of the Community Development and Administration Departments to add a Building <br />Specialist position and take away a Staff Assistant I/II position to support Building Safety operations. <br />H. Contract with Orange Avenue General Contractors for Extension of Millwork for <br />the Dais and Associated Budget Amendment #20-045 <br />Introduction: The contract with Orange Avenue General Contractors and associated Budget Amendment <br />#20-045 in the amount of $10,000 provide for the extension of millwork for the dais in the City Commission <br />Chambers. <br />Discussion: For the time being, the existing dais is not large enough to provide enough space for social <br />distancing. It is very awkward to hold a City Commission meeting. It is impossible to host a larger board <br />or visiting group. The COVID-19 virus is expected to impact meetings for the foreseeable future. The <br />construction of an extension for the dais would allow for social distancing and for everyone to be seated <br />together. <br />The City has obtained two quotes to construct a detachable, 22 -foot extension module that can be moved <br />into place and will provide for social distancing with the ability to seat nine participants. Orange Avenue <br />General Contractors provided the best and least expensive proposal at $9,729. <br />Budget Impact: Budget Amendment #20-045 would increase the City Commission Equipment Other <br />account #001-0110-511.67-35 and decrease the Other Current Charges account #001-0110-511.49-00 in <br />the amount of $10,000. <br />BA #20-045 <br />Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to provide funding for the dais <br />remodel with Orange Avenue Construction to furnish and install laminate countertops in the amount of <br />$10,000. <br />
