CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of April 1, 2019 — Joint Workshop
Page 7 of 7
5. CITIZENS' COMMENTS
The following individuals came forward:
1. Ms. Jamie Roselius, 470 Lilac Road, stated she felt safe visiting Wirz Park alone with her
daughter, but would not feel safe at Sunnytown Park. She liked the proposed improvements
to Wirz Park and was in favor of the splash pad. In response to several questions about the
improvements she was advised there would be grills installed at the pavilions; that park
patrons could not go into the community center in the event of lightning warnings, but would
be advised to go to their vehicles; and that the patios adjacent to the community center would
be fenced off and used for those renting the facility but there would be tables and seating in
the pool area for those who wished to picnic.
2. Mr. Walt Bagley, 614 Doheny Way, shared information he had about permeable parking
material options and provided examples of materials he had used at his own home to the City
Clerk. He extended an invitation for anyone in attendance to go by his residence to see what
he had installed.
3. Mr. Chuck Morris, 255 Shady Hollow, expressed concerns about what would happen in the
event someone who had rented a pavilion arrived to find someone else using it. He was
advised that renters would be given a confirmation which they could show and hopefully the
other people would leave with no confrontation; however, if necessary, a call to the police
could be made and they would enforce the reservation confirmation. Recreation Manager
Linda Moore also confirmed that signs would be placed on the pavilion advising that it had
been rented for a certain time and noting the timeframe for the rental, which hopefully would
be honored by anyone not having a reservation.
4. Mr. Dale Christensen, 1080 Crystal Bowl Circle, stated he supported all the proposed park
plans but believed the City Commission would have to re -consider the design of Sunnytown
Park and scale it back from the current proposed plan.
Mayor Glancy thanked all who had attended the meeting, including the City Commission, staff, consultants,
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board members and those who were in the audience.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Glancy adjourned the Workshop at 9:59 p.m.
DATE MINUTES APPROVED BY CITY COMMISSION:,
ATTEST:
Donna G. Gardner, CMC
City Clerk
