BUDGET AMENDMENT 19-050 - EMERGENCY EXPENDITURES RELATING TO HURRICANE DORIAN Staff Presentation: City Manager Randy Newlon explained that Budget Amendment 19-050 appropriates $1,000,000 from General Fund reserves as an estimated amount which might be necessary to advance fund cleanup efforts and some of the storm mitigation costs that the City may incur as a result of Hurricane Dorian. He added that there was no way to know what the costs might be, and he was hopeful it would not be that much. He advised that he was also hopeful that the City would recover most of the costs expended through claims to FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) which is customary in these kinds of events, but the purpose of the budget amendment was to ensure funds were available in advance for any cleanup and storm recovery efforts. BA #19-050 Explanation of Request: This budget amendment seeks City Commission approval to provide funding for storm recovery operations for Hurricane Dorian in the amount of $1,000,000. Mr. Newlon advised that he had inadvertently omitted in his earlier status report the fact that the City's debris removal contractor Crowder Gulf is on alert and will be mobilizing immediately after the storm has passed and it is safe to do so.
