City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — September 11, 2018 <br />Discussion ensued regarding various aspects of the grant application and proposed improvements to the <br />park, including timeline for the grant process. Member Lallathin voiced her concern for the City's liability <br />regarding the "Wheel Park". <br />Member Lallathin moved that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommend to the City <br />Commission that it move forward with application for the FRDAP (Florida Recreation Development <br />Assistant Program) Grant for Wheel Park Phase II and approve the new project concept, as presented. <br />Motion was seconded by Member Icenhower. Motion passed unanimously 5-0. <br />b. Park Updates <br />Ms. Moore gave the following updates regarding recent park improvements: <br />• Lake Concord Park — Additional wayfinding signage has been added which includes mileage for <br />walkers and runners to track their distances. Still waiting for the ADA (Americans With Disabilities <br />Act) playground and an update on the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant from the U.S. <br />National Park Service which was submitted in the Spring of 2018. The project is currently ranked <br />number 2 on the list. <br />• Greenway Trail — The missing bench has been replaced and car stops have been removed from <br />the cut -through path at the Marigold bike trail. <br />• Crystal Bowl Park — Wayfinding signage has been added. <br />• Dew Drop Park — New roofs have been installed on the restrooms and pavilion. Safety inspection <br />of the playground equipment has been completed and other inefficiencies have been corrected. <br />• Lake Hodge Park — Resurfacing of the basketball and tennis courts has been completed and <br />striping is in place for the pickleball courts. <br />• Lancelot Park — New signage has been installed. <br />• Sunset Park — Historical marker has been moved. <br />• Veterans Memorial Park — The bronze plaque purchased by the Veterans Club of Casselberry has <br />been installed and the Board members will be advised when the official unveiling has been <br />scheduled. <br />6. Staff Report — Event and Program Updates <br />Ms. Linda Moore presented upcoming events as follows: <br />• Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar — Friday, September 14th from 6-9 p.m. featuring <br />Spanish -style guitarist Michael Petrovich, in conjunction with the celebration of Hispanic Month <br />• Track Shack Battle of the Bands 5K — Saturday, September 15th beginning at Lake Concord Park <br />at 7:30 a.m. Event will also include a Mini Craft Beer Fest for attendees over the age of 21. <br />• Country Jam Concert in conjunction with Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar at Lake <br />Concord Park Friday, October 12th from 6-9 p.m., featuring awarding winning songwriter and <br />country artist Kendell Marvel. <br />K <br />
