2017-2018 CRA Activities
Plan into Action
In 2016 the CRA Redevelopment Plan was updated to include strategies meant to synergize with and capitalize on current redevelopment trends within the District.
Included in these strategies are the acquisition of properties to expand Lake Concord Park to the north and east, acquisition of key commercial properties to assemble for redevelopment,
and to construct a parking garage at Lake Concord Park for residents, local businesses, visitors and City employees to utilize.
Examples of the CRA commitment to these strategies within the 2018 fiscal year include:
• Approval for the expenditure of funds for the Lake Concord Parking Master Plan to be completed by Kittelson and Associates
• Investigation of key properties along US Highway 17-92 for Lake Concord Park expansion
• The City accepted the Parks, Recreation, Pathways and Open Spaces Master Plan (PRMP) in
2017; and within the plan are important improvements to be made to the Art House at Lake Concord Park. The City has moved quickly to hire consultants to study the improvements necessary
at various parks around the City, including the Art House. Additional studies and concept plans
will be presented to the City Commission and CRA Board in 2019. These are City funded initiatives that will have an impact on Lake Concord Park and the CRA.
• The City Commission voted to relocate the Police Department from its Lake Concord Park location to a location more central to the City. In addition, the City is partnering with Seminole County
Fire Department to relocate an existing fire station on the same site as the new Police Department. This will allow for the existing Police Department site to be redeveloped at Lake Concord Park.
image of art house at Lake Concord Park
image of pedestrian boardalk at Lake Concord Park
Casselberry Community Redevelopment Agency
Page 5
