He did not think rezoning her property would help with her security issues. He did <br />not feel the security issues were pertinent for the rezoning. Mr. O'Brien said that a ten -story structure was not <br />appropriate for the area. He also expressed concerns with traffic issues. <br />Mr. Rodney Dawson, 2638 Ultra Vista Drive, Maitland, Florida came forward to speak against the request. <br />Mr. Dawson expressed concerns with the increase in traffic on Lake Howell Road and stress to roads and <br />infrastructure. He felt that the Casselberry Police Department was doing a good job and suggested being more <br />proactive with security. He felt that rezoning the property would lead to a much larger problem in the future. <br />Mr. James Stout, 2808 Lake Howell Lane, Winter Park, Florida came forward. He said that he lives in <br />Seminole County. He said we are setting a precedent for other developments to come into the area. Mr. Stout <br />suggested looking at the surrounding characteristics of the neighborhood. He said setting the stage for high <br />development lots allows for more development to come into the area. He said do not just look at the color on the <br />map for the zoning but look at the surrounding characteristics. <br />Mr. Fred Piering, 2585 Tuscaloosa Trail, Maitland, Florida came forward to speak against the request. Mr. <br />Piering said the rezoning has nothing to do with the crime in the area. He questioned the land development for the <br />area. He expressed a concern with the environmental impact to Howell Creek. He felt that developing that land was <br />inappropriate due to the nature of the land. <br />Ms. Jeanne Amend, 539 Brookside Circle, Maitland, Florida came forward to speak against the request. <br />Ms. Amend expressed concerns with the prospect of having this parcel rezoned for the potential of a ten -story <br />building. She said the redevelopment of that parcel for anything other what it is currently being used for would <br />severely diminish the enjoyment, character, beauty and safety of the area. Ms. Amend felt the roads could not <br />accommodate the traffic that a ten -story would create. <br />Ms. Campbell thanked the residents for attending the meeting. She explained that tonight's item is a <br />rezoning to make the property compatible to the surrounding properties. She said the time to be concerned is when <br />the redevelopment of the site is going through the site plan review process. <br />
