City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting—June 12, 2018 <br />Member Farmer also suggested that local schools in the area may be interested in getting involved. <br />All members agreed that an event held in the fall in cooler weather would be better attended. <br />6. Staff Report <br />• Ms. Moore — Get Outdoors! Free paddleboard and kayak demonstrations on June 16. Fun <br />event to encourage residents to get active. Friends of the Park is sponsoring with <br />refreshments. <br />• Art & Music in the Park Event — Friday, July 13 featuring Tessa Marie and Jeni Valtinson. <br />• Wirz Park Pool is now open. Swim lessons will be held until the end of the swim season. <br />• Art Exhibits at the Art House. P.O.W-Pastels, Oils and Watercolors — "Journey to Recovery: <br />Art Heals" —July 5-27 <br />• Summer Art Academy is going well. All weeks are full <br />• Summer Camp Program is also full <br />• In May, South Seminole Middle School students chose Rotary Park and Crystal Bowl <br />Butterfly Garden for a planting and weeding project. <br />• Ionics playground is installed in at the Promenade at Lake Concord Park. A colorful acrylic <br />panel on top of the Helix Tower casts playful artist like shadows along the ground. <br />7. Board Member Reports: <br />Member Icenhower commented that the Lake Hodge Park upgrades look great. <br />Member Callan mentioned that kayaks were in the Lake Concord and when he approached them and <br />spoke to them briefly, they told him that they were picking up trash out of the lake. He said that they <br />had done a great job cleaning up the trash. <br />Member Farmer said that the Butterfly Park looked really nice. <br />8. Audience Participation <br />None. <br />9.
