CASSGLBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of January 22, 2018 — workshop Page 6 of 10 Park Name: Dew Drop Park • *Re -Master Plan and evaluate stormwater issues • Improve entrance road and parking hardscape areas • Improve parking lot and perimeter planting areas on east side • Accessible playground • Upgrade entrance and wayfinding signage • Large pavilion • Add shade shelters throughout park • Small pavilion • Install outdoor exercise equipment along walkway • Replace/upgrade the existing restroom facility • Install additional site amenities and drinking fountains • Fishing pier & overlook Enhancements Total Service Enhancements Estimated Cost: $ 100,000.00 $ 150,000.00 $ 60,000.00 $ 150,000.00 $ 28,000.00 $ 65,000.00 $ 15,000.00 $ 35,000.00 $ 24,000.00 $ 80,000.00 $ 30,000.00 $175,000.00 $ 912,000.00 Discussion: Discussion ensued with input from Public Works Director Mark Gisclar and Recreation Manager Linda Moore regarding the suggested enhancements, including: issues with the layout of the park and access to the park, and deficiencies in equipment and amenities; lack of parking and sidewalks, and hidden nature of the park leading to its being susceptible to vandalism; need for ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance; frequent utilization of the park by both city residents and non -city residents; potential for the park to be developed into a really nice 7 -acre lakefront neighborhood park; need for the park to be re -master planned in order to become a truly functioning park; stormwater issues; safety issues; possible land acquisition to open up ingress and egress; and options for improvements, better maintenance and security for the park. CONSENSUS: The City Commission agreed by consensus for purposes of discussion to allocate $500,000 to make improvements to the park, not to include improvements which would attract vandalism, and to revisit the feasibility of additional enhancements at a later time.
