CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of February 12, 2018 — workshop
costs and what citizens may be comfortable in supporting through a referendum; which enhancements should
be included and which should be deferred; alternate funding strategies; and the possibility of staggering the
improvements to make them all achievable. He added that Mr. Larry Adams of ACi had already been
contracted to report on the potential for an events center at Lake Concord Park and he anticipated that report
would be brought to the City Commission for consideration in late February or early March. He stated that all
options should be examined even more closely so that it could be determined what enhancements the City
Commission wished to move forward with now and what the next steps. He felt an additional workshop in the
near future would be advisable for advancing the process further, and he would hope to have the report from
Mr. Adams about the cultural events center prior to the workshop. The City Commission as whole agreed they
would prefer to have the presentation related to the cultural events center prior to taking the next step, and they
requested that the City Manager provide additional details about the bond referendum process and potential
other funding options, including Federal infrastructure improvement programs. Although there were some
concerns about how citizens would react to a potential increase in millage rate, it was agreed that the proposed
improvements to the City's parks would benefit the residents and through a bond referendum, the decision
would be made by the citizens whether or not to increase the millage.
The City Commission commended staff for the work done to gather such detailed information and stated that
they were looking forward to getting feedback from the residents and moving forward with the process.
4. CITIZEN COMMENTS
Mayor Glancy announced persons that wished to make comment or make inquiry on any matter may request to
be recognized during Citizens' Comments. No one came forward.
5. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Glancy adjourned the Workshop at 3:54 p.m.
DATE MINUTES APPROVED BY CITY COMMISSION: - /9-3 / G
ATTEST:
J
Donna G. Gardner, CMC
City Clerk
