reduce nutrients to our surface water. The City Commission was very <br />supportive of this. The County received a grant last week from the State <br />of Florida for their fertilizer ordinance for $150,000 to expand their <br />education program. We will be able to benefit from this along with other <br />cities that have their fertilizer ordinance in place. We will receive <br />educational materials, better websites and webinars. This will be <br />promoted as an educational item, rather than an enforcement issue. This <br />Earth Fest, we will be focusing on educating residents regarding this <br />ordinance, assuming it passes when it is up for second reading on <br />November 20, 2017. The Lakes Management Guide will also be updated <br />with the Fertilizer Ordinance once it has passed and everyone will be <br />provided a copy. <br />Lakes District Clean-up: Staff partnered with them and hosted a drainage <br />basin cleanup to pick up a large amount of debris throughout the District's <br />watersheds. Community Development is expanding their districting with <br />the "Flower Streets", located around the South Winter Park Drive area. <br />Not a lot of lakes, but still want to do a clean-up in that area. Chairman <br />Gonzalez asked if the "tea" colored water affect the fish? Ms. Williams <br />explained that it does not affect the fish, but is a natural process caused <br />by the release of tannins from decomposing vegetation in wetlands. <br />Chairman also asked if there any issues that the Board's support is <br />needed. Ms. Williams shared that it would be supportive if anyone could <br />attend the City Commission meeting on November 20, 2018 at 5:00 pm. to <br />support the Public Hearing of the Fertilizer Ordinance. <br />E.
