City of Casselberry <br />Parks & Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — May 8, 2018 <br />on May 1111 at the Recreation Center. It is a great celebration to show appreciation for older <br />Americans in the community and it will be an opportunity to share their stories with others. <br />Rock N' Blues Car Show event is coming up on Memorial Weekend, May 261h headlining Morry Sochat. <br />A new City Newsletter has been created and will continue to be distributed quarterly directly by email, <br />or on the city website or you can pick up copies in the lobby of City Hall. <br />Park updates: <br />A structural engineer is evaluating Secret Lake Park racquetball court. <br />The Casselberry Police Department is responsible for closing the restrooms at the parks at night. <br />Recreation staff opens them in the mornings. <br />Landscaping improvements at Lake Concord Park and Veterans Park replaced damaged plant material <br />from the cold season. <br />Lake Hodge Park's basketball and tennis courts have been resurfaced. <br />New metal roofs will replace the old ones at the Wirz Park Building and bathhouse. <br />Shade structures damaged by last year's hurricane will soon be replaced with new ones purchased with <br />FEMA reimbursement funding. <br />Dew Drop Park's large pavilion and restroom building roofs will be replaced with metal roofing. <br />Friends of the Park purchased and the City installed two new dog stations at Lake Concord Park and <br />Promenade area. They will also purchase the doggie bags for each of the stations. As requested by <br />many residents, one new dog station was installed at the Crystal Bowl Butterfly Park next to the trail. <br />7. Board Member Reports: <br />Member Icenhower reported that EarthFest was a very enjoyable success. She attended the event and <br />many people discussed with her how great of an event it was and that mentioned that there were <br />many activities for the kids and lots of vendors with free activities. <br />8.
