CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of February 26, 2018 — Regular Meeting
Page 8 of 9
the City would be responding to the resident with that information.
• Reminded the Commissioners about some issues which had arisen regarding the lighting
on the palm trees in the area of the Signature Street improvements at the end of Triplet
Lake Drive at the boat ramp. He advised that the lighting had been turned off for some
time at the Commission's direction due to some complaints received early on. However,
now one the residents who had complained had moved from the area and the two adjacent
property owners now wished to have the lighting back on from dusk until dawn. He stated
that staff was seeking direction from the Commission about the issue. After a brief
discussion, it was the consensus of the Commission to direct the City Manager to task staff
with turning the lighting back on and setting the timers so the lights would be on from dusk
until dawn as it was originally intended in the design of the project.
15. CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
No report.
16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT
No report.
17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS
Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1:
• Thanked all those who were able to attend the Seminole Cultural Arts Council event on
Saturday, February l Ot" at which the City was presented the heART for the ARTS Award.
• Reported that the Mardi Paw Parade and the Mardi Gras Music Festival events on Saturday,
February 17t' had been very successful and he felt it was a good starting point for the event and
that it would continue to grow.
Commissioner Sandra Solomon - Seat No. 3:
Shared some concerns she had about a shed which had been constructed in what she felt was
the front yard of a home in the Carriage Hill community and inquired of staff if anything could
be done about it. She indicated she had concerns herself but had also been approached with
complaints from other residents. Staff advised that the shed was in compliance with City
regulations and had been properly permitted, and it was not actually in the front yard, but it
may appear that way because of the configuration of the lot. Staff advised that there was not
currently a provision in the Code requiring that sheds and other accessory structures be
concealed behind a fence, and after considerable discussion staff was directed to look into
whether the Code should be updated to include this type of regulation to prevent a recurrence
of this type of issue and to protect community standards.
