CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of January 22, 2018 — Regular Meeting
Page 8 of 13
Discussion: Discussion ensued regarding any concerns with the overall concept; costs of proposed
improvements; widening of sidewalks; materials; parking; retention areas; crosswalks and intersections;
brick vs. asphalt with striping; concrete vs. flexipave; permeable brick; what costs would be paid by Florida
Department of Transportation and what would have to be paid by the City; and landscaping, lighting and
electrical infrastructure.
After discussion, the City Commission came to a consensus and provided the following guidance as to
design scope refinement:
- Okay with overall concept
- Use standard concrete sidewalks
- Use walking audit to determine possible additional sidewalk needs on west side which could
be paid for with cost savings of using standard concrete
- Okay for sidewalks to encroach into City -owned adjacent properties if necessary for parking
and/or sidewalk and/or retention
- Okay to use 317 South Sunset Drive (old stone house) for retention if necessary
- Okay to use asphalt as base bid for parking pullouts at Sunset Park (possibly 2-3 spaces) with
brick as a bid alternate — Veteran's Park has penneable brick
- Crosswalks and intersections across Sunset — okay with standard asphalt with standard striping
with brick as bid alternates — If consistent with Signature Street it would be brick
- Okay with suggested enhanced brick intersections at Overbrook Drive and Southcot Drive as
suggested. Cost would be City's responsibility and could be included as a bid alternate
- Okay with looking at tweaking alignment at Overbrook Drive if reconstructing intersection
anyway - should not add a lot of cost
Vice Mayor Meadows left the Commission Chambers at 6:40 p.m. and returned at 6:41 p.m.
CommissionerAramendia left the Commission Chambers at 6:49 p.nt. and returned at 6:50 p.m.
Audience Participation: The following individual came forward to address this item:
Mr. Neil Landgrebe, 451 Lilac Road, requested that any information compiled from the earlier
workshop be published so the public could be kept informed. He also expressed appreciation
for the planned Sunset Drive improvements; voiced concerns about dangerous speeding and
safety issues on Overbrook Drive; and questioned whether any of the original planned
improvements set out in the Multi Modal Transportation Master Plan had changed due to the
Oxford Road improvements which had been made.
No one else came forward.
C. Volunteer Board Appointments
Planning & Zoning Commission
The following applicants for the Planning and Zoning Commission were present to introduce themselves
and address the Commission:
