CASSCLBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of September 12, 2017 — Special Meeting <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />i ' , L11111111111 111011111 <br />WjlllM��� <br />� FEW"Eff ff W-Wr R1, Will <br />Staff Presentation: City Manager Randy Newlon explained that Budget Amendment 17 -050 was for the <br />purpose of setting aside funds for hurricane remediation as a result of Hurricane Irma, mirroring the process <br />which the City used for Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and the storms of 2004. He explained that $1 million <br />would be taken out of fund balance and set up in a contingency reserve account, and as needed monies would <br />be reallocated by future budget amendments to other needs such as debris collection and monitoring expenses. <br />He added that he anticipated a large portion of the funds would eventually be reimbursed by FEMA (Federal <br />Emergency Management Association), but the City needed to commit its own resources at this time to perform <br />the necessary hurricane recovery efforts in as expeditious a manner as possible. <br />BA #17 -050 <br />Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to provide funding for estimated costs <br />due to Hurricane Irma, which struck the Central Florida area on September 10, 2017. <br />Account Number Account Descriution Amount <br />Increase: <br />001 - 0190 - 519.58 -06 Contingency — Hurricane Irma $1,000,000 <br />Decrease: <br />001 - 0000 - 389.90 -00 Other Non - Operating Sources /General Fund $1,000,000 <br />Audience Participation: No one came forward to address Budget Amendment #17 -050. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Solomon moved to approve Budget Amendment #17 -050, as <br />presented. Motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Aramendia. Motion carried <br />unanimously by voice vote 4 -0. <br />Mayor Glancy announced persons that wished to make comment or make inquiry on any matter not on the <br />agenda, may request to be recognized during Citizens' Comments. Mayor Glancy announced the rules of <br />decorum. No one came forward. <br />9. COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS <br />Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: <br />No report. <br />
