RESOLUTION 17 -2983 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR FURTHER EXTENSION <br />OF THE DECLARATION OF A STATE OF PUBLIC EMERGENCY <br />PREVIOUSLY APPROVED BY RESOLUTION 17 -2982 THROUGH <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 EXPIRING AT MIDNIGHT, AS <br />PROVIDED BY CHAPTER 30 OF THE CASSELBERRY CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Casselberry is authorized to declare a state <br />of emergency as provided by Section 30 -7 of the City Code of Ordinances; and <br />WHEREAS, a public state of weather emergency as provided by Section 30 -10 of the <br />City Code of Ordinances was declared by the City Manager at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, <br />2017 due to the anticipated impacts of Hurricane Irma on the City of Casselberry; and <br />WHEREAS, the declaration of a public state of weather emergency was required for <br />activation of emergency plans adopted by the City; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 30 -7(b) of the City Code of Ordinances requires that the City <br />Commission confirm the emergency declaration made by the City Manager; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 30 -7(f) of the City Code of Ordinances requires the City <br />Commission to authorize a request to extend the emergency declaration beyond the 72 -hour time <br />limit; and <br />WHEREAS, on September 11, 2017, the City Commission confirmed the emergency <br />declaration made by the City Manager and further extended the emergency declaration through <br />Tuesday, September 19, 2017 expiring at midnight via Resolution 17 -2982; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined a further extension of the emergency declaration is <br />needed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Extension of Declaration of State of Public Emergent. The City <br />Commission hereby authorizes the extension of the public state of emergency through Tuesday, <br />September 26, 2017, expiring at midnight. A copy of the City Manager's emergency <br />declaration is attached to this resolution as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby confirms all purchases and contracts for <br />service that were deemed necessary and approved by the City Manager during the period of the <br />public state of weather emergency and extension thereof. <br />
