City of Casselberry
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
Regular Meeting-- March 14, 2017
Linda Moore reports that the Parks Master Plan should be ready for presentation
to the Board late April. She will report equipment concerns to Parks Facilities.
Chairman Van Meter reported that the crosswalk at Secret Lake Park may need
more adequate signaling. Traffic is consistent there and there are a lot of
patrons at the courts at night especially.
9. Staff Reports
® Linda Moore — Parks Master Plan still in progress
10. Audience Participation
Mary Penn —121 S. Triplet Lake Drive - Concerned about the homeless issue at
Secret Lake Park but said it is getting better by keeping the weeds under the
boardwalk area cut down. Another issue that concerned her is the lighting of the
new park area near the boat ramp. She feels that the up -lights on the palm
trees are intrusive to the residents living there. She mentioned that because of
the lights, there are not so many birds on "Bird Island" anymore. She said that
the lights are on throughout the evening and this generates visitor activity that is
intrusive to the residents living in the peaceful area. They are asking that the
lights be turned off at dusk.
Tammi Johnson —161 S. Triplet Lake Drive — presented a letter from another
resident regarding her concerns about the lit palm trees. She said that the
lighting is extremely bright and welcomes after hour activity to the park area.
Member Nordstrom thanked the audience for their information. Chairman Van
Meter requested that Linda Moore bring these resident concerns to the
attention of Kelly Brock.
11, Adjournment
Member Holmes moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:48 p.m. Motion was seconded by Member
Nordstrom. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote 4-0.
Chairman Van Meter adjourned the meeting at 7:48 p.m.
Date Minutes Approved:
NEXT MEETING: April 11, 2017
4
ra
Joann Duncan
Redding Secretary
