She then gave a brief overview of the Comprehensive Plan update process to <br />date and presented a PowerPoint presentation highlighting each element of the Plan. (A copy of the presentation is <br />attached to and made a part of these minutes). The presentation included the following components: <br />-Future Lane Use Element <br />-Traffic Circulation Element <br />-Housing Element <br />-infrastructure Element <br />-Conservation Element <br />-Recreation & Open Space Element <br />-Intergovernmental Coordination Element <br />-Public School Facilities Element <br />-Capital Improvements Element <br />-Healthy Communities Element <br />During the presentation highlighting the various elements, discussions ensued regarding various topics, including <br />addition of an economic development element; public lake access; transportation; crime prevention; housing quality; <br />utility services; pedestrian accommodation and connectivity; water quality; intergovernmental coordination; <br />conservation issues; ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) requirements; and recreation and open space goals. <br />Ms. Ghioto concluded by briefly covering the next steps in the process, advising that her team would take notes <br />received from the Commission at this meeting and continue to finalize the policies, supporting data and analysis to <br />complete the draft document. That document would then be presented at the transmittal hearing before the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission on April 26, 2017, then to the City Commission for approval on May 8, 2017, at which time <br />the 10 -day window for submission to the Florida Department of Economic Development would begin. <br />A long discussion ensued regarding the City's Multi -modal Transportation Plan and various transportation options, <br />with Ms. Ghioto noting that the goal was to provide more transportation options and to make utilizing those options <br />more attractive. <br />10.
