CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS/COMMENTS
Commissioner Andrew Meadows — Seat No. 2
Congratulated Planner Emily Hanna for receiving the 2017 Urban and Regional Planning
Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Central Florida.
Commissioner Sandra Solomon - Seat No. 3:
• Added her congratulations to Ms. Hanna for the award from UCF and expressed appreciation
for her hard work and that of her department and other city staff.
• Raised the subject of concerns she had received from residents in the area of Marigold Road
about the work being done there and the removal of palm trees, asking about tree replacement.
Public Works Director Mark Gisclar advised that the palm trees would not be replaced in the
rights of way as the root systems had cause some damage to the drainage lines. However, he
stated that the City would provide oak trees for those residents that wished to have them
placed in their yards and who would agree to take responsibility for maintenance of the trees.
• Expressed some concerns about dead trees she had observed along Red Bug Lake Road in the
area of Mark David Boulevard. Mr. Gisclar advised the trees were not dead but were bald
cypress and red maple which had been dormant and were now starting to bloom.
Commissioner Bill Hufford — Seat No. 4:
Congratulated Ms. Hanna on her award and stated he was very happy about the relationship
the City was developing with UCF.
Vice Mayor Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1:
Expressed some concerns about the retention pond at the southeast corner of Red Bug Lake
Road and Winter Park Drive.
Congratulated Emily Hanna on the award she received from UCF.
Advised he had done some quick research and was able to confirm that newly appointed
Lakes Management Advisory Board member Allessandro Garabaghi did live directly on Lake
Howell which he felt would be a benefit to the board.
Mayor Glancy — Seat No. 5:
Congratulated Emily Hanna on being selected as the recipient of the 2017 Urban and
Regional Planning Alumni Achievement Award for the University of Central Florida.
Congratulated Randy Woodruff on his official appointment as Community Development
Director.
