CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of July 25, 2016 —Regular Meeting <br />Page 16 of 17 <br />Commissioner Sandra Solomon - Seat No. 3: <br />Thanked everyone again for their expressions of sympathy and kind words about her late <br />husband Irving Teitelbaum. <br />Inquired whether the City Manager had plans for a workshop regarding the possible relocation <br />of the Police Department and he advised that a resolution was needed as to what to do with <br />the former bowling alley property on State Road 436; however, it was too early for a <br />workshop and one was not scheduled at this time. <br />Congratulated Randy Woodruff on his appointment as Interim Community Development <br />Director and thanked him for taking on the position. <br />Mr. Newlon advised that there was a need to call a Special Meeting in the near future as a result of the City <br />Election on August 31, 2016 and that each of the Commissioners had indicated they could be available for that <br />meeting on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers; therefore, he would <br />move forward to schedule the meeting for that date and time. <br />Vice Mayor Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />Congratulated Randy Woodruff on his appointment as Interim Community Development <br />Director, adding she was certain he would do a great job in the position. <br />Expressed some concerns regarding a newspaper article she had seen about the possibility of <br />smoke shops becoming marijuana dispensaries for recreational marijuana, and inquired <br />whether the City was keeping close watch on developments in that area. Ms. Reischmann <br />advised that the recent regulations passed by the Commission would serve to provide some <br />protections as far as distance requirements, etc., and Mr. Newlon reminded her that <br />recreational marijuana was not yet legalized in this area, but staff would certainly keep <br />apprised of developments that may impact the City and would defmitely move towards any <br />changes needed for the City's protection. <br />Stated she hoped all the Commissioners would be able to attend the upcoming FDOT (Florida <br />Department of Transportation) Alternatives Public Meeting for SR 436 Concept Development <br />Study in the Commission Chambers on Thursday, July 28, 2016 to hear what plans are for the <br />area. <br />Mayor Glancy — Seat No. 5: <br />Reminded the Commissioners that although it was okay to attend the FDOT meeting there <br />should be no discussion between the Commissioners due to Sunshine Laws. She noted that <br />any comments or discussion could be brought back to a regular Commission meeting. <br />Congratulated Randy Woodruff on his appointment as Interim Community Development <br />Director. <br />Reported she had attended the 2016 Political Hob Nob hosted by the Casselberry Chamber of <br />Commerce on Friday, July 15, 2016, and congratulated Vice Mayor Hufford and the Chamber <br />on the success of the event. She stated that it had been a fabulous event and very well <br />attended. <br />
