CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of July 25, 2016 —Regular Meeting Page 16 of 17 Commissioner Sandra Solomon - Seat No. 3: Thanked everyone again for their expressions of sympathy and kind words about her late husband Irving Teitelbaum. Inquired whether the City Manager had plans for a workshop regarding the possible relocation of the Police Department and he advised that a resolution was needed as to what to do with the former bowling alley property on State Road 436; however, it was too early for a workshop and one was not scheduled at this time. Congratulated Randy Woodruff on his appointment as Interim Community Development Director and thanked him for taking on the position. Mr. Newlon advised that there was a need to call a Special Meeting in the near future as a result of the City Election on August 31, 2016 and that each of the Commissioners had indicated they could be available for that meeting on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers; therefore, he would move forward to schedule the meeting for that date and time. Vice Mayor Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: Congratulated Randy Woodruff on his appointment as Interim Community Development Director, adding she was certain he would do a great job in the position. Expressed some concerns regarding a newspaper article she had seen about the possibility of smoke shops becoming marijuana dispensaries for recreational marijuana, and inquired whether the City was keeping close watch on developments in that area. Ms. Reischmann advised that the recent regulations passed by the Commission would serve to provide some protections as far as distance requirements, etc., and Mr. Newlon reminded her that recreational marijuana was not yet legalized in this area, but staff would certainly keep apprised of developments that may impact the City and would defmitely move towards any changes needed for the City's protection. Stated she hoped all the Commissioners would be able to attend the upcoming FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) Alternatives Public Meeting for SR 436 Concept Development Study in the Commission Chambers on Thursday, July 28, 2016 to hear what plans are for the area. Mayor Glancy — Seat No. 5: Reminded the Commissioners that although it was okay to attend the FDOT meeting there should be no discussion between the Commissioners due to Sunshine Laws. She noted that any comments or discussion could be brought back to a regular Commission meeting. Congratulated Randy Woodruff on his appointment as Interim Community Development Director. Reported she had attended the 2016 Political Hob Nob hosted by the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce on Friday, July 15, 2016, and congratulated Vice Mayor Hufford and the Chamber on the success of the event. She stated that it had been a fabulous event and very well attended.
