Mayor Glancy thanked her for her initiative in seeking out funding
opportunities, but asked that she keep the Commission abreast of her progress. Mr. Newlon clarified
that the meeting had just occurred last week, and the focus had been on securing planning and
construction funds for the proposed public safety complex at the recently acquired site on Wilshire
Boulevard. After a brief discussion about other various projects for which the City could seek
funding, the Commission agreed that the City Manager and Commissioner Hufford should continue to
research what funding sources may become available from the state as a result of the upcoming
legislative session, but should keep the Commission posted on their progress.
Vice Mayor Sandra Solomon - Seat No. 3:
Reported that the Carriage Hill community had its community garage sale over the past weekend and it
had been a success.
Advised she had spoken with residents of Brittany Gardens on Sunday, October 25, 2015 and they had
made positive comments about the bridge being opened, the City having taken over the golf course
and made improvements there, and the upgrades being made throughout the City in general.
Commented that she did not have a strong opinion either way about the Commission meeting times;
however, she noted that when the meetings had been held at a later time, she did not notice any larger
attendance then than at the current earlier time.
