CITY OF CASSELBERRY <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN POTABLE WATER ELEMENT <br />CHAPTER VII - POTABLE WATER SUB - ELEMENT <br />A. INTRODUCTION <br />The City of Casselberry currently owns and operates its own central water treatment and distribution <br />system which supplies potable water for industrial, commercial, irrigation, and residential uses. <br />The City has historically been able to provide adequate potable water services to meet the demand <br />within the City's service area boundary. Currently, the service area encompasses the City as well as <br />areas in both Seminole and Orange County. <br />B. POTABLE WATER EXISTING CONDITIONS DATA <br />This section identifies the City of Casselberrys potable water service area, the potable water sources <br />and the capacities of the wellfields, plants, and distribution lines. <br />1. City of Casselberry Potable Water Facilities Inventory <br />The City of Casselberrys potable water system is comprised of three water treatment plants <br />with a total combined capacity of approximately 16 million gallons per day (with an FDEP <br />rated capacity of 14.25 mgd), above ground storage tanks, elevated storage tanks, and a <br />distribution system. <br />a. Operational Responsibility <br />The City of Casselberry s Public Works Department is responsible for the operations <br />and maintenance of the public water system within the City's service area. The City <br />operates the system in compliance with all state and federal regulations, and the <br />water produced meets all state and EPA standards for potable water. <br />b. Service Area and Predominant Users <br />The City of Casselbeny's potable water service area encompasses approximately 7.5 <br />square miles and includes areas outside the City limits in both Seminole and Orange <br />Counties. Casselberry currently provides potable water to approximately 54,396 <br />people, with 52 percent of that population (28,286 people) residing outside the City <br />limits. The City of Casselberry water service area is depicted on Map VII -1. <br />C. Potable Water Treatment Facilities <br />The City of Casselberry currently owns and operates three (3) water treatment plants <br />with a combined daily design capacity of approximately 16 million gallons per day <br />and an FDEP rated capacity of 14.25 mgd. Each treatment plant has three wells with <br />an average production capacity of approximately 6.36 million gallons per day (mgd) <br />and 2,190 million gallons per annum. Treatment at each plant includes aeration, <br />addition of corrosion control inhibitor, and disinfection. The total average daily <br />water flow for the city is approximately 5.0 mgd with peaks as high as 7.0 mgd. <br />.Cand'Veyn 9nnovafions, 9ne. Page 1 <br />
