Mr. John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, <br />Florida came forward. Mr. Casselberry said at this time he was not in favor of this project due to economic reasons. <br />Mr. Casselberry felt that realigning the road was dangerous and people could throw things off their balconies. He felt <br />that the project was premature to the flyover project. Mr. Casselberry recommended stalling this project until the <br />construction of the flyover begins. <br />Mr. McGregor asked for a motion for the Triplet Lake Drive Realignment project. Mr. Jones made a motion <br />that the CRA contingently commits $1 million toward the Triplet Lake Drive Realignment project subject to the final <br />agreement with the developers and that the funds committed would come first out of reserves, second out of the <br />infrastructure budget and the remaining funds would come from the land budget. Mr. Moore seconded the motion. <br />The motion passed with a majority vote with Mr. McGregor casting the dissenting vote. <br />Ninth Item of Business: Other Business <br />Ms. Sandra Smith, Community Development Director, said that information has been distributed to the <br />Board regarding Seminole State College's potential interest in developing an arts- related facility at the old Wal -Mart <br />site on US Highway 17/92. Mr. Randy Newlon, City Manager, said that Seminole State College has expressed an <br />interest in the old Wal -Mart site. He said in March the City met with representatives from Seminole State College <br />regarding the redevelopment of the site. Mr. Newlon reviewed a PowerPoint presentation (a copy is attached and <br />made a part of the minutes). <br />Mr. Newlon said that Seminole State College is meeting with their Board of Trustees on April 21, 2014 to <br />discuss this project. He said that the City is hopeful that they will receive positive encouragement that will lead the <br />City to engage in discussion with Wal -Mart. <br />Mr. Newlon said that the media outlets have run stories on Seminole State College coming to Casselberry; <br />therefore he can publicly discuss the project. <br />Mr. Newlon stated that this project would be located within the CRD. Ms. Smith said Seminole State <br />College's potential redevelopment in Casselberry is due to the redevelopment around City Hall. <br />Ms. Smith said a letter was included in the CRA agenda packet from Shoot Straight addressed to Mr. Jones <br />regarding adding a cut through from Lemon Lane to Anchor Road.
