SECTION 1. That Section 5 -21.2, Definitions, Part III Unified Land Development Regulations, <br />Chapter V Glossary, Article XXI. Language and Definitions, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br />Casselberry, Florida shall be amended as follows: <br />Assisted Living Facility. A facility licensed as an Assisted Living Facility under Section 429.07. Florida <br />Statutes, providing housing, meals, and one or more personal services to 15 or more live -in adults who are <br />not relatives of the owner or operator. Facilities may also provide health and medical care. but care is not as <br />intensive as care typically offered at a nursing home. The facility may include more than one type of living <br />unit and offer different levels of daily living and medical assistance, ranging from independent living to nursing <br />care. Assisted living facilities may be comprised of Residential Suites. Independent living units within an <br />assisted living facility are considered as dwelling units. See also Independent Living Units and Residential <br />suite. <br />Independent Living Units. Dwelling units in an Assisted Living Facility with kitchen facilities for a resident <br />where the residents are capable of caring for themselves and do not require a provider of food or personal <br />services. <br />Kitchenette. An alcove or portion of a residential unit containing any combination of microwave oven, sink <br />and /or refrigerator intended for limited food preparation. <br />Memory Care Facility. Also known as a convalescent home, this term is defined as a facility licensed by the state as a <br />Nursing Home under Section 400.062, Florida Statutes, which provides residential nursing. personal or <br />custodial care for three or more persons not related to the caregiver, who by reason of illness, physical <br />infirmity or advanced age require such services. The following are excluded from this term: hospitals, clinics <br />and detoxification facilities.
