Casselberry Economic Development Advisory Board <br />Minutes of June 18, 2013 Meeting <br />Page 3 <br />, Mr. Dudgeon stated that Casselberry's residents play a big role in shaping the City's brand. He stated <br />significant portions in the City are young, startup families or retirees. A brief conversation ensued regarding whether <br />the City was attracting more retirees or startup families. <br />Mr. Dudgeon stated that based on the information provided in the PowerPoint the young families <br />demographic is larger than retirees, but from a chronological standpoint, the data doesn't address that question. He <br />stated that the census is a good source to analyze these types of trends. <br />Mr. Dudgeon concluded by stating there are a variety of directions the Board may consider for marketing <br />and branding projects. He said each one has their benefits and challenges, but consistency is key in evaluating their <br />overall effectiveness. <br />Presentation: "Marketing for Casselberry: Concepts and Considerations" <br />Mr, Kyle Dudgeon, Economic Development Planner, reviewed information provided in a PowerPoint <br />presentation relating to practical applications for marketing. A copy of the PowerPoint presentation is attached and <br />made a part of the minutes. <br />Mr. Dudgeon stated that there are four `P's to marketing including product, price, place and promotion and <br />identifying them is essential to successful marketing. <br />A conversation ensued regarding an incubator in the City. Ms. Pamela Lynch, Economic Development <br />Coordinator explained that she met with Tom Tomerlin and Sonia Nordelo from Seminole County who clarified that <br />the County may be at its limit for incubators. She stated that incubator programs will always look to add new <br />programs to their portfolio as long as the cost is encumbered by someone else. <br />The Board stated that it needs to be clear on what they mean by an incubator. They stated there are several <br />types from professional to restaurant incubators. They said there is also a difference between an incubator and a <br />business development center, and a center may be more suitable for Casselberry's need and resources. <br />Mr. Dudgeon concluded that there are several tangible marketing approaches the City could take for <br />marketing. He additionally concluded that the second PowerPoint presents an interesting dynamic in that it is from a <br />private sector business rather than the public sector.
