CITY OF CASSELBERRY <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION/ <br />LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY <br />The City of Casselberry Planning and Zoning Commission /Local Planning Agency held a workshop on <br />Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 5:00 P.M. in the Casselberry City Hall, Commission Chambers, 95 Triplet Lake <br />Drive, Casselberry, Florida. <br />Members present: <br />Andrew Meadows, Chairman <br />Daniel Hale, Vice - Chairman <br />Luis Guzman <br />Ron Bryan <br />Nathan Van Meter <br />Members absent: <br />Michael Wadley <br />Stanley Weinroth <br />Staff members present: <br />Sandra Smith, Community Development Director <br />Kelly Brock, Assistant Public Works Director /City Engineer <br />Jason Sorensen, Planner I <br />Joni Dixon, Secretary <br />Mr. Meadows called the workshop to order at 5:06 p.m. <br />Ms. Sandra Smith, Community Development Director, stated that staff has provided a lot of information to <br />the Commission but felt the main area of concern at this time was how to deal with dead trees on commercial sites <br />and what type of tree replacement is required for dead trees. <br />Mr. Jason Sorensen, Planner I, presented a PowerPoint Presentation to the Commission (a copy is attached <br />and made a part of the minutes). A brief discussion ensued regarding tree replacement codes for other <br />municipalities in the area and the tree canopy in the City <br />Mr. Meadows felt that a property owner is financially penalized if a tree dies on a heavily treed site. A <br />lengthy discussion ensued regarding basing the commercial tree replacement requirements on whether a site meets <br />the minimum landscape requirements.
