City of Casselberry Police Officers' and <br />Firefighters' Pension Board of Trustees <br />Amended Minutes of August 13, 2013 Meeting <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />Chairman Pavlis has informed the board that he will not be continuing in the position of the Fifth <br />Member of the Board effective with the end of his term on December 31, 2013. <br />Mr. Hettler's term as the Board member from the Fire Department ends on December 31, 2013. An <br />election for the position needs to occur before November meeting. <br />At the meeting held on August 12, 2013, the City commission adopted Ordinance 13 -1394 and approved <br />the changes to the contracts for both police and fire regarding years of service and retirement eligibility. <br />Firefighter Marzolf remains on military leave. <br />9. Attorney Report <br />All financial disclosure reports were completed and submitted. <br />Form for request of actuarial study was created and sent to the City for use by the members. A copy will <br />be sent to the Board members. <br />Update on the last Legislative Session in Tallahassee: <br />1. SB 50 Requiring that members of the public be given the opportunity to be heard on a <br />proposition before a board or commission <br />a) The Pension Plan is currently in compliance <br />b) City Clerk is reviewing this requirement with all Boards <br />2. SB 534 - Additional Reporting <br />a) Does not change the way the City's actuarial company calculates the valuation <br />i. Three additional reports are now required <br />(1) Assumption 2% less than what the Plan is using <br />(2) More conservative mortality table <br />(3) What if there were no additional contributions <br />b) The new reports are due to Tallahassee within 60 days of when the October 1, 2014 valuation <br />is mailed. In addition, these new reports must be posted on City website <br />10. Adjournment <br />Chairman Pavlis adjourned the meeting at 11:18 a.m. <br />
