CASSELBERRY CITY COMNHSSION <br />Minutes of January 13, 2014 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 21 of 22 <br />16. CITY CLERK'S REPORT <br />• Reminded the Commissioners that annual board appointments would be made at the next regular <br />Commission meeting. <br />17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS /COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Anthony Aramendia — Seat No. 1: <br />• Commended staff on the Tree Lighting event which was well attended. <br />• Expressed condolences on the passing of long -time volunteer Alvera Armour. <br />• Stated he had attended the Grand Opening of Chick Fil A and had enjoyed the tour of the kitchen. <br />• Reported that the Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar event on Friday, January 10, 2014 <br />was a great success as usual. <br />• Advised he had spent three weeks in Miami over the holidays and noted that many issues that he saw <br />in Miami are ones that the City of Casselberry has already addressed and he thanked the Commission <br />and staff for their efforts. <br />• Reported that he had received compliments on the mural painted by the Seniors for a Better <br />Community group on the end of the shopping center located in front of City Hall on U.S. Highway 17- <br />92, and thanked Recreation Manager Linda Moore for coordinating that effort. <br />Commissioner Gene Fry — Seat No. 2: <br />• Wished everyone a Happy New Year and encouraged staff to continue the good work in 2014. <br />• Stated he had attended the memorial service for Alvera Armour and expressed condolences. <br />Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: <br />• Expressed condolences on the passing of former board member Alvera Armour. <br />• Reported she attended the grand opening of Chick Fil A and wished the owners success at that <br />location. <br />• Advised she had spoken with Mr. Birdoff and congratulated him on all the improvements that he has <br />made to the shopping center at the corner of U.S. Highway 17 -92 and State Road 436. <br />• Stated she had also eaten at the new Bojangles and enjoyed the food. She shared that she had a nice <br />conversation with a resident showing that Casselberry was a great place and very friendly. <br />• Stated she is still actively pursuing action on development of a performing arts center on the Wal -mart <br />owned property on U.S. Highway 17 -92. <br />• Reported that she had heard compliments at the RPA meeting about how well Casselberry looks along <br />U.S. Highway 17 -92. <br />• Wished everyone a Happy New Year. <br />
