CITY CLERK'S REPORT • Reminded the Commissioners that annual board appointments would be made at the next regular Commission meeting. 17. CITY COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS /COMMENTS Commissioner Anthony Aramendia — Seat No. 1: • Commended staff on the Tree Lighting event which was well attended. • Expressed condolences on the passing of long -time volunteer Alvera Armour. • Stated he had attended the Grand Opening of Chick Fil A and had enjoyed the tour of the kitchen. • Reported that the Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar event on Friday, January 10, 2014 was a great success as usual. • Advised he had spent three weeks in Miami over the holidays and noted that many issues that he saw in Miami are ones that the City of Casselberry has already addressed and he thanked the Commission and staff for their efforts. • Reported that he had received compliments on the mural painted by the Seniors for a Better Community group on the end of the shopping center located in front of City Hall on U.S. Highway 17- 92, and thanked Recreation Manager Linda Moore for coordinating that effort. Commissioner Gene Fry — Seat No. 2: • Wished everyone a Happy New Year and encouraged staff to continue the good work in 2014. • Stated he had attended the memorial service for Alvera Armour and expressed condolences. Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: • Expressed condolences on the passing of former board member Alvera Armour. • Reported she attended the grand opening of Chick Fil A and wished the owners success at that location. • Advised she had spoken with Mr. Birdoff and congratulated him on all the improvements that he has made to the shopping center at the corner of U.S. Highway 17 -92 and State Road 436. • Stated she had also eaten at the new Bojangles and enjoyed the food. She shared that she had a nice conversation with a resident showing that Casselberry was a great place and very friendly. • Stated she is still actively pursuing action on development of a performing arts center on the Wal -mart owned property on U.S. Highway 17 -92. • Reported that she had heard compliments at the RPA meeting about how well Casselberry looks along U.S. Highway 17 -92. • Wished everyone a Happy New Year.
