CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of December 9, 2013 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 23 of 24 <br />Commissioner Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: <br />• Reiterated that the staff holiday party was a lot of fun and the Recreation Center looked great. She <br />commended everyone who worked on the event. <br />• Congratulated Vice Mayor Hufford and thanked her for taking on the task of serving as President of <br />the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce for the. next year. <br />• Thanked Mr. Newlon for a good year. <br />Vice Mayor Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: <br />• Congratulated Mr. Newlon on a very good performance evaluation. <br />• Commended Mr. Richard Henderson for his 15 years of service to the Code Enforcement Board and <br />asked if a letter of appreciation could be sent to him. Ms. Gardner advised that his service had ended <br />January of last year and he had been recognized for his service at the last Board Appreciation Dinner. <br />• Reported she had participated in the teach -in at South Seminole Middle School and really enjoyed it. <br />• Advised she had spoken on the subject of advocacy at the Florida League of Cities Legislative Action <br />Committee meeting on November 21, 2013. Added that the Advocacy Committee would be starting <br />its analysis on Wednesday and gearing up for the next legislative session. <br />• Stated that the employee holiday party was phenomenal and commended staff on that event, as well as <br />for their work on the successful Santa Run. <br />• Commended the Police and Fire Departments on their proactive handling of a situation in the <br />Summerset subdivision. <br />• Commended Code Enforcement staff on the proactive approach they are taking, adding that she has <br />noticed it and is thankful they are taking that approach to issues. <br />• Congratulated Chief McNeil on his 25t11 anniversary with the City of Casselberry. <br />• Reported that the proceeds of the silent auction held at the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce Food <br />and Wine Festival had been distributed and $1,000 each had been given to the Art House, the <br />Casselberry Elementary Food Pantry, and to scholarships for graduating seniors fi•om this area. <br />• Shared that she had met a young family who was renovating their home on Queens Mirror Circle and <br />doing a great j ob and she was excited to-see that. Commissioner Solomon added that she also knew of <br />a family who had purchased an old 1940's home on Lake Ellen and were remodeling it. Both vice <br />Mayor Hufford and Commissioner Solomon commented that this was good sign for the City's <br />redevelopment vision. <br />• Wished everyone happy and safe holidays. <br />Mayor Charlene Glancy — Seat No. 5: <br />Stated that the employee holiday party was a wonderful event and everyone seemed to have a great <br />time. <br />Stated that the Santa Run was a great success, although she was disappointed it didn't come down her <br />street; however, she could hear the music and the fire truck and Mr. and Mrs. Claus and it was an <br />exciting event for the community. <br />Reported she had attended the Cops vs. Kids basketball game on Wednesday night at South Seminole <br />Middle School and it was a fun event. Added that basketball had been added back to middle schools <br />
