Community Redevelopment Agency
August 15, 2013
property purchase will increase the City Hall Complex area and it will most likely be used as an art component
because the previous property owner was a big proponent of the arts and an artist himself.
Seventh Item of Business: Public Comments
Mr. John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida came forward. Mr. Casselberry said
based on the contract, it appears that the City is giving away the land to the developers. He said the developers
would pay money to the City and in turn the City would pay the money back to the developers to develop the land.
He said it is $6 to $9 million worth of public investment being given away and he felt it was insane. Mr. Casselberry
suggested that the CRA should only purchase land if they plan to hold the land for a period of time. He felt that if the
CRA deeds the land over to the City, the City will give the land away to developers.
He felt that the value of the properties located in the CRD could be improved without the Board purchasing
land. He suggested discussing cross access with the property owners. Mr. Casselberry questioned why the CRA
would purchase land and then let the City give it away.
Eighth Item of Business: Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr. McGregor adjourned the meeting at 10:02
a.m.
DATE MINUTES APPROVED BY COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY: ° `t
Joni Vi6n, Secretary
