Code Enforcement Board Appointment
Staff Presentation: City Clerk Donna Gardner gave a brief review of the status of the Code Enforcement
membership, stating that the Commission had previously deferred appointment of the alternate member in
January, and later made that appointment in June 2013. She added that it had also come to her attention that
one regular member appointment was still necessary to complete the membership. She reminded the
Commission that the Board Policy called for the Commission to consider the person in the alternate position
when filling a regular member vacancy. She added that the Commission had been provided with copies ofthe
board applications for all those who had expressed an interest in serving on the Code Enforcement Board.
The following individuals have applied for the Code Enforcement Board:
Jeanne Aparicio*
862 Moonlit Lane *Current Alternate Member
Loy (John) Awbrey
116 Northrnoor Road
Cal Fisher
1533 Canterbury Circle
Randy Shuler
413 Sundown Trail
Anthony Van Ore
2028 Manhattan Lane
Discussion: Discussion ensued during which it was noted that Mr. Anthony Van Ore's application had not
indicated the Code Enforcement Board as one of his preferences; therefore, Mr. Van Ore's name was
withdrawn from consideration for the vacancy.
MOTION: Commissioner Hufford moved to appoint Jeanne Aparicio to the Code
Enforcement Board as a regular member, term effective through January,
2016. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Aramendia. Motion carried
unanimously by voice vote 5 — 0.
Discussion: Discussion ensued regarding appointment of an alternate to fill the vacancy created by Ms.
Aparicio's appointment as a regular member and whether it would be appropriate to delay the appointment to
allow the Commissioners to familiarize themselves with the remaining applicants, if necessary. Ms. Gardner
advised that the term for the alternate would expire in January 2014, and requested direction as to when the
Commission wished to consider the appointment. In response to questions from the Commission, she also
noted that with Ms. Aparacio's appointment, the board would now have its full complement of seven members.
