CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of June 10, 2013 — Regular Meeting Page 15 of 16 Commissioner Gene Fry — Seat No. 2: • Added his congratulations to the Fire and Police Departments for doing a good job in handling the Serve Pro fire and the gas leaks. • Stated he had some concerns about the issue of tax abatement, but favored it for the purposes of encouraging redevelopment and bringing in new businesses to the City. • Reported he had met with Mr. Harry Barley of MetroPlan and toured the City with him. • Expressed concerns about the air conditioning system in City facilities. • Expressed his appreciation for citizens who speak at Commission meetings about various issues. • Voiced some concerns about the storage of equipment for the pipe bursting project on the City Center property. • Stated he had also attended the Get Outdoors Casselberry event and it was a great success and well attended. He commended all those involved in this and other events in the City's parks. Commissioner Colleen Hufford — Seat No. 4: • Thanked the Fire and Police Departments for their response to the recent gas leak. • Commended Dr. Kelly Brock for preparing the statistics on the compressed work week which resulted in the City's receipt of the Clean Air Award. • Extended kudos to those who worked on the Get Outdoors Casselberry and Hot Rods and Rock N Roll events, stating they were both successfitl and positive events. • Mentioned that a traffic control count had been performed by the Police Department on Queens Mirror following a serious accident on Sunday morning. She advised that the results had shown there was not much speeding, but there was a greater amount of traffic than expected, which she suggested may be due to people trying to avoid the flyover construction. • Commended staff on all their hard work, stating she was pleased with where the City was going and was proud of the City. Vice Mayor Sandra Solomon — Seat No. 3: • Reported she had attended both the Hot Rods and Rock N Roll Concert at Lake Concord Park and the Get Outdoors Casselberry event at Secret Lake Park and both were excellent events. She added that she had received many compliments about the City's events and commended all the staff and volunteers who worked on them. • Stated that she was looking forward to seeing many positive changes in the future with both the City of Casselberry and Seminole County working together on development of the Highway 17 -92 /State Road 436 areas. Mayor Charlene Glancy — Seat No. 5: ® Commended the Fire and Police Departments for the great job that they do, noting that both agencies always rise to the occasion.
