2) Continue to create opportunities for educational efforts related to protection <br />of the City's watersheds; <br />3) Continue to encourage residents and businesses to adopt best management <br />practices for water quality protection, including but not limited to: Florida - <br />friendly landscaping principles; responsible and limited use of fertilizers, <br />pesticides, and herbicides; water conservation; runoff reduction; stormwater <br />harvesting; revegetation of lakeshores and littoral zones with native plant <br />species; appropriate control of exotic invasive plant species; proper pet waste <br />and household hazardous waste disposal; and protection of storm drains from <br />leaf litter and grass clippings; <br />4) Continue to encourage responsible and regular inspection and maintenance <br />of existing septic systems and, when available, connection to the City's sanitary <br />sewer system coupled with proper abandonment of existing septic systems; <br />5) Continue to promote responsible redevelopment, balancing economic <br />growth with environmental protection; <br />6) Continue to work to reduce pollutant loads, including excess phosphorus <br />and other nutrients, to the City's lake systems, through infrastructure <br />improvements, best management practices, balanced regulation, and educational <br />programs; and <br />7) Continue to work with other stakeholders in the City's watersheds to <br />promote environmental protection. <br />SECTION IL Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the <br />provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION III. Severability. If any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution <br />proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the <br />validity, force, or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution. <br />SECTION IV.
