ORDINANCE 11 -1363 <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to §100.3605, Fla. Stat., a referendum is not required <br />when changing qualifying dates for members of the governing body; and <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the State Legislature modifying the time when the <br />State primary election will be held from 10 weeks to 12 weeks prior to the general <br />election, the City qualifying dates and date on which petitions are to be received by the <br />City must be changed to earlier dates; and <br />WHEREAS, words with double underlined type shall constitute additions to the <br />original text and strike through shall constitute deletions to the original text. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: Section 7.06, Procedure for placing names on ballot; alternative <br />method of qualifying, of Article VII, Elections, of the Charter of the City of Casselberry, <br />Florida, is hereby amended as follows: <br />Section 7.06. - Procedure for placing names on ballot; alternative <br />method of qualifying. <br />Any elector may become a candidate for Mayor /Commissioner or <br />Commissioner by filing with the City Clerk an application to have his /her <br />name printed on the ballot as a candidate for a seat specifically named <br />from 12:00 p.m. Monday through 12:00 p.m. Friday, during regular <br />business hours, for the five -day period during the third full week injie <br />May.. Each person seeking election to the City Commission shall pay, at <br />the time of qualifying for office, a qualifying fee to the City Clerk. The <br />amount of the qualifying fee is one percent of the annual salary of the <br />office. Additionally, candidates shall comply with F.S. § 99.093, as <br />amended. <br />Ordinance No. 11 -1368 <br />Page 1 <br />
