Casselberry Housing Task Force <br />August21,2012 <br />Page 2 <br />Approval of Minutes for the public meeting held on July 20, 2012. <br />Commissioner Aramendia stated the Chair was open for a motion on the approval of minutes for the public <br />meeting held on Friday, July 20, 2012. Mr. Meadows moved to accept the July 20, 2012 minutes, Mr. Wadley <br />seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by voice vote. <br />Neighborhood Stabilization Program Updates <br />Mr. Don Martin, Community Development Director, disclosed information relating to updates with the <br />Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Mr. Martin stated that the City submitted a proposal to Seminole County for <br />consideration to use NSP funds for community reinvestment. The total amount of the request was between one and <br />one and a half million dollars, Mr. Martin relayed that the County received and was reviewing the proposal. <br />A discussion ensued regarding the competition for Seminole County NSP funds and the timeline for which <br />funds must be spent. <br />Habitat for Humanity Presentation <br />Mrs. Penny Seater, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity in Seminole County & Greater Apopka, <br />reviewed information provided in a powerpoint presentation regarding Habitat's mission and their conceptual <br />partnership with the City. A copy of the powerpoint presentation is attached and made a part of the minutes, <br />Golf Course Updates <br />Mr, Don Martin, Community Development Director, outlined a schedule for the Casselberry Golf Course <br />planning process. Mr. Martin suggested this framework would provide an opportunity to make the process as open as <br />possible with the public. Meetings would be addressed through a City -wide mail invitation encouraging City resident <br />to help shape the golf courses' future. <br />A discussion ensued regarding the options for future use, The Task Force agreed that the City should be <br />considered a potential buyer for the property and suggested the schedule may be too long a time frame to act, <br />Mr. Martin cautioned the Task Force that additional opportunity costs would be associated with purchasing <br />the golf course. He stated potential future development would additionally influence the negotiated price of the land. <br />
