The City of Casselberry's Parks & Recreation Advisory Board held its regular meeting Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in the City of Casselberry Commission Chambers, 95 Triplet Lake Drive, Casselberry, Florida. June Herron called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. Board Members Present: June Herron Cheryl Evans Daphne Keys Jessica Eckhart Staff Present: Linda Moore, Recreation Manager Luis Cruz, Park Development /Facilities Manager Alicia Kardell, Recording Secretary Audience: John Casselberry Approval of Minutes Ms. Herron moved to approve the April 10 minutes as written. Ms. Eckhart seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Items for Discussion: None Mr. Cruz gave an update on Wirz Trail Section I. The punch list items are currently being completed. Wirz Park is looking much improved with the trail, new landscaping, lighting, and pool renovations. Ms. Herron asked if there would be a grand opening for Section I. Mr. Cruz said there will be a soft opening. An official grand opening will be held after the completion of Section III. Mr. Cruz said construction of Section III should begin by March 2013. Summer Camp at Casselberry Elementary began on June 4. The camp is held there Monday through Thursday, and on Fridays the children are at Secret Lake Park or on field trips. There are 35 children registered this week. Ms. Moore said this number will probably increase to the maximum of 50 within the next couple of weeks. The campers have two classrooms and an art room at the school, and are able to walk to Wirz Pool for swimming. This Friday, they'll be fishing and kayaking at Secret Lake Park.
