Planning & Zoning Commission/
Local Planning Agency
March 14, 2012
Page 2
Ms. Sandra Smith, Development Services Manager, said that the Public Works Department is seeking a
letter of support from the Planning and Zoning Commission for the TIGER 2012 Grant. Dr, Kelly Brock, Assistant
Public Works Director, explained that last fall the Public Works Department submitted a large transportation grant
package to the federal government; however, the City was not selected for that grant. He said $12 million of local funding has
been identified which would leave about $15 million funding from the federal government, Dr. Brock said he would
appreciate the Planning and Zoning Commission's consideration to provide a letter of support for the grant.
Mr. Meadows asked for a motion to address the Planning and Zoning Commission's letter of support for the
TIGER 2012 Grant. Mr. Wadley made a motion to extend the Planning and Zoning Commission's support to the City
Commission for the City's TIGER 2012 Discretionary Grant Application and authorizes the Chairman to execute the
